Nakiska Ski Area, famous worldwide for hosting the alpine events of the 1988 Olympics, continues to thrive not only as a skiing and snowboarding area but also as one of the best alpine ski training venues in North America. Nakiska is, in fact, the official alpine training centre of Alpine Canada and continues to host top-level competitions, such as the Ski Cross World Cup.
This past weekend, it hosted training of a different kind. Santa visited the snowy slopes to prepare for the “Joyous Season”, working on his “Holiday Turns” with the Austrian National Team. The Austrian Women’s National Team got Santa to work on his edges and ski carving, taking him through high-level training to enhance his skiing.
Santa felt it was essential to have his skiing skills ready for the Christmas Season winter package delivery, so he had to pick a snowy place to go. With winter blanketing the world-famous skiing regions of Canada, like the Canadian Rockies and the famed Powder Highway of British Columbia, Santa got what he wanted: new skills and new friends.
